The roots of Future Forces Forum reach back to 1985, when the first edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in Lisbon, Portugal. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B, marketing the soldier personal equipment. The event was opened for NATO member nations only.
1988
The 2nd edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in Paris, France. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B, marketing the soldier personal equipment. The event was opened for NATO member nations only.
1991
The 3rd edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in London, UK. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B, marketing the soldier personal equipment.
1994
The 4th edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in Toronto, Canada. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B, marketing the soldier personal equipment.
1997
The 5th edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in Oslo, Norway. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B with the UK Chairmanship. The event marketed soldier personal equipment. Venue of the exhibition was a military area with limited number of commercial participants.
2000
The 6th edition of the international exhibition of the Combat Clothing & Personal Equipment (CCPE) was held in Prague, Czech Republic, on 28 - 30 October 2000. In 1999, the Czech Republic had become full–fledged member of the NATO. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic and the NATO AC/301 Sub Group B with the UK Chairmanship. It was the first time the exhibition was open to unlimited number of commercial participants. It also featured a dynamic presentation for the first time in its history.
2003
The 7th edition of the international NATO Combat Clothing & Individual Equipment (CCIE) exhibition was held in Nitra, Slovakia, on 15 - 17 October 2003. The exhibition was organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence of Slovak Republic and the NATO International Committee. In view of this cooperation, high ranking officials of armed forces, Commanders, observers and experts from NATO member states, Partnership for Peace countries, as well as numerous international and local exhibitors, participated in the event. NATO Exhibition Slovakia CCIE 2003 enabled suppliers, sub–suppliers and new entrants to the industry, both manufacturers and trade companies to promote their products, production capabilities and projects for cooperation related to field equipment of soldiers and their personal outfits.
2008
The 8th edition of the international exhibition, newly organised under the name Future Soldier was held, for the second time, in Prague, under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. The Future Soldier 2008 was focused on research results, new technologies and materials, concepts and opportunities for international cooperation in implementation of the integrated system of soldier of the future and on securing the interoperability of individual components in wartime and peacetime operations. The exhibition was designed for industry and national representatives of NATO member states, Partnership for Peace and the Mediterranean Dialogue countries in the field of modern combat dress, personal protection devices, soldiers' equipment and battlefield equipment.
2010
The 9th edition of the international exhibition Future Soldier was held in Prague under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. The exhibition was focused on individual components of the "Dismounted Soldier" and was attended by industry and national representatives of NATO member states, PfP and Mediterranean Dialogue countries. The event was co-organized along with the LCG/1 working group focusing on Dismounted Soldier Systems.
2012
The 10th anniversary of the international Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference (FSEC), which was held in Prague on 17 - 19 October 2012 under the auspices and official support of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Defence & Security Association (DSIA), AFCEA, NATO HQ, NSA, NSPA, NCIA, NATO MILMED COE, NATO JCBRN Defence COE, EDA, EUROPOL, GNSS Agency, and many other organisations, has become a major international event representing the latest technologies in the defence and security field.
2014
The 11th evolution edition was held in Prague under the new name Future Forces Exhibition & Conference on 15 - 17 October 2014. Organised under the auspices and with official support of the Czech Ministry of Defence, Chief of the General Staff, Parliament, NATO HQ, EDA, and many international institutions, the upgraded concept of exhibition and conferences marked tremendous success among the participating delegates and exhibitors. For the first time, the exhibition hosted an international conference, 4 international workshops, 3 expert panel discussions, 14 expert working groups and the largest number of participants. Official annual sessions of the NATO AC/225 Land Capability Group on Dismounted Soldier Systems and NATO Joint CBRN Defence Capability Group were organised within FF14.
2016
The 12th evolution edition brought completely new concept - FUTURE FORCES FORUM - the international platform for defence & security information exchange. Future Forces Forum is a widely endorsed long-term project to promote interests of the allied countries and their partners within national and global security.
The project consists of a compilation of events and activities at a high political, military and expert level. All events are primarily focused on the presentation of current and future needs of the armed and security forces, state-of-the-art technologies and R&D programmes with interactions between all involved participants due to the interconnected topics.
Official meetings of the NATO AC/225 Land Capability Group on Dismounted Soldier Systems, NATO CBRN Medical Working Group, NATO Medical Materiel and Military Pharmacy Panel, NATO Science and Technology Organization, or camouflage and concealment expert group were organised within the FFF 2016.

2018
FUTURE FORCES FORUM 2018 built on the successful previous year and events held in the meantime by wider involvement of governmental and international institutions.
The concentration of expert events at one place is an added value for all participants which is confirmed by the joining of new events into the FFF - NATO M&S Centre of Excellence Modelling and Simulation for Autonomous Systems (MESAS) Conference, and NATO MED CD&E (Concept Development & Experimentation) Workshop. Equally important is the resumption of the official meeting of the largest NATO Army Armaments Group (NAAG) expert group on the Land Capability Group on Dismounted Soldier Systems (LCG DSS).

2020
The international exhibition Future Forces, expert panels and networking within the FUTURE FORCES FORUM 2020 did not take place due to the pandemic. Some expert panels were held as virtual or hybrid events.
2022
After a forced pause due to restrictive anti-epidemic measures, the 14th edition was a great success, which was confirmed by the increase in exhibitors, participating official delegations and professional visitors.

2024
The next edition of the international forum and exhibition of defence and security technologies will take place from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 October 2024 again at the PVA EXPO PRAGUE exhibition centre. From Monday 14 October, the FFF will host official meetings of NATO Working Groups in Prague, whose members will also be actively involved in the programme.
